The Purchasing with Purpose collective is mapping enterprises in the United States that put people and planet first.
These enterprises have a social or environmental purpose, earn revenue through self-sustaining business models, reinvest the majority of profits, and have structures that protect their purpose over time. They can be difficult to find in the US because different terminology is used in different networks, regions, and sectors.
This mapping initiative is the first of its kind. It aims to increase the visibility and voice of the broader movement, open new opportunities, and help build resilient local economies that prioritize people and the planet.
The report is based on a nationwide survey and interviews with enterprises, networks, purchasers, and investors. It provides a snapshot of the US landscape during the first half of 2025.
